Vicken Derderian is an LA native hailing from Pasadena who showcased his latest collection at LAFW. His architectural education seeps through every stitch of his designs and his latest collection did not lack in linear construction and sleek minimalism. What caught my eye though was (what I felt) the additional inspiration of 16th century silhouettes; referencing Tudor staples such as puffed sleeves, doublets, and pumpkin breeches. Subdued colors of rich navy, burgandy and grey tones married Derderian's sleekness and Elizabethan inspiration beautifully. The collection also harkened to 90s comme des garcons collections that I could see any art curator ladies and art basel clotheshorses donning.
