Jack Irving "Nebula" A/W 2017 collection at London Fashion Week
We sent our London contributor Tymber Santos to London Fashion Week this year with nothing but disposable cameras and a keen eye. Here is Day 1 of his LFW excursion!
London fashion week was filled with innovations and excitement from new designers presenting their first presentations, to pre-existing designers presenting entirely new concepts to their clothes for the autumn/winter season. This year at London I began my first day of fashion week in the middle of a very busy school term, however considering I had the day off on the first day of fashion week, I decided to take the invitations I had to the first 8 shows of the day and go to them all.
My favorite of the day particularly being Jack Irving, this new designer presenting one of his first collections at London fashion week gave his audience a full day interactive exhibition in a dark gallery space reflecting outer space. Filled with dark light, models strutted around in jeweled and glittering body suits and corsets. Jack Irving’s more impressive showpieces were his inflatable wear, LITERALLY! Coats and insane performance wear that inflated with and filled the room with its mass, his collection literally took up fashion week.
Jack Irving, mostly known for his costume design work on Lady Gaga, is a self proclaimed fantasist and London designer whose creations come from his love of circus theatricality and exploring every nook and cranny of his imagination. In his collection "Nebula" he brings his signature inflatable pieces along with encrusted skeletal corsets and spiked elements. Perfect for those boring Tuesdays to the grocery store.
