Hey Parker Day exhibition at Super chief gallery
February 4th in the back alleys of the Arts district of downtown LA flurries of creatures from avant-casualists to Blitz kid incarnates gathered to the Superchief Gallery for the ICONS Parker Day exhibit. Every type of sartorialist on the fashion spectrum turned up to oggle her candy colored portraits as well as oggle each other.
Many of our Muses (Annie Motel, Amy Cakes Danky Dank, Candice Molayem) to Reflekt contributors (Uhuru from SNATCH POWER, model Alyha, and our former writer Sarah Hartmann) were hanging on the walls. I asked Gianfranco, who also sat as Parker Day’s subject, if the photo subjects dressed that eccentrically for the picture or if that is how they naturally dress. His response? From looking around I would say that is how they dress all the time. As I turned my neck and looked around, I would say that was definitely accurate. In this white walled space the people were providing the color. From blue skin, pink hair, to yellow eyes-it was like being at the coolest party in another planet.
It was an amazing show, not only for the hyper colorful photographs but the attendees as well. What made it so interesting and overstimulating (in the best way) was the huge amount of style variants present. Everyone was so friendly and keen to have their picture taken, reveal where they got their clothes from, and generally have a good boogie down with! Not many events are like that and from chatting with people, one thing was on everyone’s mind: when will be there be more events like this? Would like to know the answer myself so I’ll eagerly wait for the next rsvp in my inbox.
