Who are your style influences?
My first style icon was my aunt, who to this day is still one of the best dressed women I know.
How did your style develop?
My style is constantly changing and developing. I'm always drawing inspiration from the past, especially the 60's and 70's.
Personal styling trick?
Don't be afraid of what others think! Wear what you want. And when you need to break in a new pair of heels, make sure to get drunk the first couple times you wear them.
How do you think people react to your style?
Sometimes they stare. But for the most part I get a pretty positive reaction.
Do you have any hobbies?
Lounging in my pool, painting, playing tennis, making cocktails and creating cheese platters. I also love playing Twister!
What inspires you?
The Brady Bunch.
Was it difficult creating the brand look for Flamingo Vintage and why did you want to own your vintage boutique?
About a year ago on a Wednesday, I time traveled back to the 60'. There I bought an excessive amount of clothing and when I returned I had no choice but to open a vintage store! Now the shop is a mixture of garments I acquired from the past and clothing from the future. It's pretty much a collection of things I like.
Do you feel that because you dress so colorful and wonderfully kitschy that people may not take you seriously as a business woman or take you seriously as a person?
It's not my main concern but maybe I can provide an opportunity to shake up people's perceptions and preconceived ideas about what makes a good business woman. I think being successful is all about being truthful and honest and knowing you strengths and weaknesses. You also have to keep an open mind and constantly be learning.
What is something surprising about you that people might think contradicting to your outward appearance?
I'm a pretty straightforward person. If anything people are more shocked about how extreme I am rather than surprised.
Do you feel your personal style reflects who you are?
Yes because I only wear what I truly love and I do it for myself, not anyone else. I even make sure I look good before I go to bed!
What do you want to do in the future?
I want to take over Hugh Hefner's position at the Playboy mansion and bring the magazine back to it's 1960's glory days. I'd also paint the whole mansion pink and green.
